PREVIEW:
Blazblue:
Chrono Phantasma is the latest installment to the Blazblue series. Arc
System Works stated that they are treating this installment as a brand new title, instead of an upgrade.
Chrono Phantasma
features updated movesets, many new stages, new BGMs, and 4 new
characters: Amane, Bullet, Azrael, and Izayoi.
Additionally, some returning characters will have updated stances &
costumes, and new moves. For example: Noel has a different weapon and
doesn't wear a barrette anymore. Tsubaki is said to be a "darker" version of her previous self. Most
characters will also have different Distortion Drives. Chrono
Phantasma will introduce a new Overdrive mechanic that will serve as a
counter to the more defensive Break Burst system. Overdrive will power up a
character for a short period of time, and also allow them to perform stronger
super moves/attacks.
Arc System Work's Mori mentioned that the story of Chrono Phantasma takes place after BB: CS Extend. For the home version, instead of having individual story paths for each character, there will be 3 main stories that lead up to the games true ending. Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma is set to be released in arcades November 21st, 2012. A Playstation 3 port has already been confirmed for Japan (no word on a Xbox 360 version yet). Arc System Works also stated that they're putting a lot of work into the console version's Network mode with an aim to "perfect" it.
